Character Name: Izumo no Takeru
Canon: Susanoh ~Sword of the Devil~
Age: 26.
Appearance: This here.
Canon Point: Post manga.
How will your character react to the initial night period?: At first he might be pretty shocked that the hotel changes, but he will get used to it rather quickly. He might think that the people are possessed, since he's familiar with that, but he'll know not to get hurt by them (when you were cut by the evil sword, you were put under its control), just in case it leads to possession, or something more than a simple wound. After a while, he'll take things in stride, as he prefers to take things as they come. He knows when to get serious though, even though he prefers not to worry. He's seen/bben in a lot of hostile environments, and put himself in dangerous situations by being a thief, stealing from dangerous and/or powerful people. And of course, there's the fighting with Amamikado and the possessed Kumaso.
History: Link to a post in Izumo's journal.
Personality:
"It doesn't matter what our ancestors did or who they were. History's not what's binding us. It's ignorance."
When most people meet Izumo, he might seem like a cool and laid back man. To others, he seems like he is just a regular idiot. As much as he might seem like an idiot though, in truth, he is not nearly as stupid as he sometimes makes himself out to be. He is just a man who likes to mess around, joke and tease people whenever he gets the chance. He likes to look at things from the bright side, whether it be different situations or the world itself. He doesn't see what is good about just seeing the negative, because what would that amount to? To some, his teasing and joking might get quite annoying, as might his near constant smiling and laughing, to those that are prone to dislike people who are laid back. Because the impression that he is laid back is accurate. Izumo is relaxed and prefers not to stress, as it will not amount to much anyway. That, and he has a great deal of confidence in himself. He does more than just tease, as he likes to flirt as well, with pretty women, Kumaso..
For all that Izumo is annoying, he is a very caring person. He cares a lot about his friends, and will go to great lengths to protect and save them. It does not matter if he puts himself in danger for the sake of those he likes and cares for, as long as he can assure their safety, even if he knows that it might cause his own death. His will is so strong that he was prepared to impale himself on the holy sword to get to his goal, risking to die if he had been wrong.
He is by no means suicidal, though. He is confident in his skills and his intuition, and putting his trust in that, he takes on the challenges thrown at him in life. He believes that he can take on anything that he puts his mind to, without wanting to give up. This is why he decides to tell Kumaso, who at that time was a complete stranger, about his plan to break into Fudaru's mansion, even though he doesn't know the other man. He trusts his intuition, and his intuition tells him that he can trust Kumaso. His confidence allows him to be as laid back as he is, and the way he believes in himself shows in the way that he moves. He's relaxed and takes everything as it comes without too much worry. Adding his stubbornness to his confidence, Izumo can be quite the challange to keep down. To some, it might seem like bravery, but to others, it is plain foolishness.
But though he might seem like a fool, he is far from. Izumo is perceptive, and picks up on things that others might miss. He is deceptive, and he knows that luck isn't something that comes to you just like that, it is something that you have to make on your own. Being as perceptive and clever as he is, he will find a way to do so, and him failing to figure out how to solve a problem, or figure out the meaning of a riddle is rare, even though it does happen. As he is a thief, people would do well in not trusting him too easily, as they might get tricked, but he doesn't use people just to be mean. Stealing from them is another thing entirely, however.
Abilities: N/A for supernatural abilities. Otherwise he's a good swordsman, and handy with a whip. And he's a pretty good liar.
Samples
First Person: [A finger taps the wrist watch as a video feed starts. Then, a man comes into the picture, and he grins. ] Oh, hey! This place sure is confusing, huh? So many new things, it's sort of amazing. Have you seen the gigantic pieces of glass? Last time I checked, they were only as big as this, [ He shows half a circle between his hand, no bigger than a decimeter in diameter. ] A lot of things look like metals, but they're so smooth even though they're so big. I wonder how you make those....And where can I sell it? So when do I get to leave? It gets stuffy being in the same place for too long, especially if it's indoors. I want forests, oceans mountains...and treasures! I'm in the middle of looking for this one treasure, I think it'll be a lot of fun getting it. I mean, water that burns? That's so cool, I can't wait to see it.
Third Person: He was only half-way through exploring the hotel when he found his first elevators. Two fancy-looking pair of doors, with intricate patterns in every circle. Izumo had never seen an elevator before, and thus, assumed it to be a regular door. There were no door handles on these doors however, and lightly pushing them to the side didn't work either. He looked around, curious about the oddity of the doors. The doors should open in the middle, that much he gathered just by looking. And they might lead to the same room, or possible two smaller ones, considering the regular doors not too far off.
His hand followed the wooden panel around the doors as he eyes the patterns on one of the doors. That was when something else caught his attention, out of the corner of his eye. A black and gold panel going from ceiling to floor, right in between the two doors. Well, should be something there, he thought, and took the single step to get there. Had he been so fascinated by the doors themselves that he had missed this panel completely? To be fair, there had been so many new things to see here, that he couldn't even count it anymore.
On the panel itself, he found nothing of interest, but between it and one of the doors, he found something more. A disk of some kind, with little circles on them. He looked at them, curious. Buttons were after his time, as were the electical lights lighting up the building, and even such an everyday thing seemed interesting to him. The little circlets stood out, and there was this odd pull inside of him, that made him want to press it. But maybe that was the point of it all?
He jumped a little in surprise as the doors suddenly opened with a ping. Okay, he didn't expect that. The doors opening on their own, maybe, but not the sound they made. He looked inside, and was a little bit disappointed. That was one tiny, empty room.
